    My Absolutely Fabulous Life!

A BLOG OF POSITIVE THOUGHTS AND INSPIRATION.
If you don’t love your life… why not?
Make the changes in your attitude
So you DO love your life!

    LOVE IS THE ANSWER

And now abide faith, hope, love,

    these three;

but the greatest of these is love.

    Hello world!

Welcome to my WordPress.com blog. I’m using this blog for my random philosophical chatter.

I do not prescribe to any specific or one denomination, religion or spirituality. You will find a mix of Christianity, Pagan, Buddhism, New Age, Law of Attraction, etc. here. Anything that brightens the path of a human’s journey through a lifetime.

“Give me such love for God and men, as will blot out all hatred and bitterness.” - Deitrich Bonhoeffer

This quote appears in my current Ladies Bible Studies book in the chapter “To Love God and Others.” ( Becoming A Woman Of Purpose by Cynthia Heald )

    Alone Together

People who align so closely w a group identity do so out of fear.. fear to stand alone.. to be judged. Blessed or cursed.. I have never fit in to any group so I have always stood alone.

We are all alone TOGETHER.. so no one is truly alone. I finally came full circle to understand that I am part of everything. How cool!

    We Can Fly

“Imagine being able to FLY and being caged like a prisoner.”

@YourDailyVegan posted that on Twitter regarding caged birds and animals. But it made me think of humans.. how we have caged each other and ourselves. We have used labels and boundaries which created prejudices to confine us.

We can be FREE, people! Don’t you want to FLY? I sure do.

    Let go!

Learning to let go seems so hard. I think humans expect things to be hard so we make them hard..lol. As Samsaric Warrior says “Only the thought of it is hard.” Read his post here: http://samsaricwarrior.com/2011/07/07/what-are-you-grasping-at/

    Being a Lamp

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

    Psalm 119:105
    King James Version (KJV)

    My comment:

Perhaps our words can help someone along their path in life. Think before you speak. Sometimes a kind word can make all the difference to someone. Sometimes your words can be a lamp for a person’s feet.

    Peeling Bananas

“Jimmy’s world was turned upside-down by one monkey who took a banana and, rather than holding the banana to peel from the stem, he turned it upside down. Jimmy thought the monkey was stupid. What kind of monkey doesn’t know how to open a banana, for cryin’ out loud?

Then the monkey pinched the end, and effortlessly extracted a perfectly peeled banana.

It turns out, of course, that the monkey wasn’t wrong. Rather, because Jimmy had always only seen a banana peeled from the stem, in the same way that we’ve all always seen a banana peeled for as long as we can remember, Jimmy assumed that there was only one way to peel a banana. But there are at least two, and both do what they need to do quite well: they produce fruit.”

    My comments:

Sometimes we get used to something done a certain way.. so much so that we can’t imagine it being done any other way! Take the story above and replace bananas with another object or even a concept. You may be intrigued by some new insight.

    Under His Wings

He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

    Psalm 91:4
    King James Version (KJV)

I came across this picture on Tumblr then saw the verse separately. I felt compelled to put them together..LOL.

      Thanks for the hat tip!

Much appreciated and I’m glad that you like my picture. I’m hoping that it encourages people. I guess the world would be better if we all took a little time to do small things to improve it. A little bit of photoshopping is my “small thing” for this week :)

      Cheers,
      Iain.

    Getting a little controversial

I posted on my Facebook page:
“I think I need to get a little more controversial…”

    A reply asked “Why?”

So upon delving into mind why I said that,
I’ve come up with the following answer.

It is time to spread my wings.

I need to learn to stand by my words, ideas, convictions
and not let the fear of other people’s impressions
hold me back from expressing myself.

    I need to learn to deflect attacks and not take them personally;
to build a thicker skin as I wade into deeper waters.

I need to learn to accept that there will be those who disagree with me
and that does not invalidate my view or have any bearing on my value
as a person (and, especially, upon my soul.)

It is time to test myself… take all my experiences and use them
to push against my own boundaries.

It is time to lose the fear or face the fear.

Good for you!! It is hard…especially with family..I think I have an easier time stating my convictions, thoughts and opinions on subjects to strangers than I do to my own family..especially my parents..I to live with that "fear" of being criticized or worse..disappointing them because I don't always agree with them..I'm in 50's and still have a hard time voicing my opinion to my mom on certain subjects…
